El puente que danza. Aspiration Bridge en Covent Garden

Esta pequeña intervención me impactó mucho la primera vez que visité Covent Garden (Londres). Es el bridge of Aspiration, que une la Royal Ballet School con la Royal Opera House, diseñado por Wilkinson Eyre Architects. //This little intervention made a huge impact on me the first time I visit Covent Garden, London. It's the Bridge of Aspiration, that links the Royal Ballet School with  the Royal Opera House, designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects.

La diferencia de altura y de alineación de los desembarcos del pasaje determinan su forma. Una  espina de aluminio sujeta la serie de 23 marcos cuadrados con intervalos translúcidos que giran unos 4 grados unos respecto del otro para salvar el desalineamiento, realizando una rotación de un cuarto de vuelta a lo largo del puente. //The skewed alignment and different levels of the landing points dictate the form of the crossing. A concertina of 23 square frames with glazed intervals are supported from an aluminium spine beam. These rotate about 4 grades in sequence for the skew in alignment, performing a quarter-turn overall along the length of the bridge.

 

La estructura es un gesto elegante entre los dos edificios que recuerda la flidez y gracia de los bailarines. //The structure reminds the fluidity and grace of the dancers, being an elegant gesture high above the street.
