Steven Holl atraviesa el círculo polar ártico para crear este museo dedicado a el escritor noruego y premio Nobel Knut Hamsum. En palabras del arquitecto "el concepto del edificio es construir un cuerpo que sea el caampo de batalla de fuerzas invisibles". //Steven Holl goes above the arctic circle to create this museum dedicated to Norwegian writer and Nobel Prize, Knut Hamsum. In the architect's words "The concept of the museum is "building as a body, creating a battleground of invisible forces".

La madera oscura del exterior es característica de las iglesias noruegas mientras que los interiores blancos rememoran el ambiente de las casas nórdicas. La columna del edificio es el ascensor principal, cuya posición genera perspectivas excepcionales del espacio interior.  //The stained black wood exterior skin is characteristic of the Norwegian churches, while the white interiors reflect the ambience of the Nordic homes. The spine of the building body is the central elevator, providing exceptional space perspectives of the inside.
